Macy Stapleton

MSN, APRN, PPCNP-BC, Owner

Education:
BSN, 2009; MSN, 2011 West Virginia University

Helping children and their families is my passion.
Born and raised in a small town in West Virginia, my family and community provided a stable and supportive foundation during my childhood. These relationships taught me the value of respect, helping others, good character, healthy relationships, communication, accountability and work ethic. I believe parent, family, and community partnership is essential for fostering health and well-being.

I knew from a young age that my calling was to be a part of children's lives. I have always been drawn to working with children whether through Vacation Bible School, baby sitting, tutoring, dance lessons, or volunteering at child development centers and a local children's hospital.  While initially I set forth to become a Pediatrician, I found myself enamored with the nursing role. I desired the opportunity to advocate and care for individuals and support them through health and illness. Becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner afforded me the opportunity to combine my love for nursing with the primary care provider role.  I enjoy taking the time to get to know each family and working together to ensure the child has a healthy and positive upbringing.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 3 sons and 2 rescue dogs. We enjoy biking, traveling, playing soccer, Friday pizza and movie nights, watching Formula 1 races, and riding roller coasters. In the community, I volunteer at children's church, support school sports and academic teams, food pantries, and sponsor Haiti Hope Mission.

MA, RDN, CHES

Mary earned two Associate of Science degrees in Science and Social Science from Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science/Health and Physical Education with a concentration in Nutrition and Food Science from Norfolk State University in Norfolk. Following her undergraduate degree, Mary received her Dietetic Internship Graduate Certificate from Utah State University’s accredited didactic program (ACEND). Furthermore, Mary received her Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies: Public and Community Health and Exercise Science from Liberty University in Lynchburg. Mary has gained extensive experience in fitness and nutrition as a personal trainer, a fitness specialist, and a registered dietitian, health coach, and health education specialist.

From a young age, Mary knew she wanted to work in medicine. She realized early on that nutrition played as significant a role as physical activity in maintaining health. Helping patients improve their nutrition and overall health became Mary’s passion and she took every step to pursue it. She utilized her years of education to learn about all aspects of health, including wellness, nutrition, and fitness, and works to educate patients on the true meaning of “healthy living for a lifetime.”

Mary understands that every patient’s unique needs depend upon the patient. Mary’s dietary health plan typically includes assessing patient needs, providing health information, building healthy habits, and working with patients to meet their improved health goals. Mary finds satisfaction in treating all dietary needs, picky eaters, food allergies, diabetes, cholesterol, heart disease, underweight, and weight management. These common conditions can be treated and even prevented with proper diet and care.

She has remained true to her love of fitness by becoming a certified personal trainer, a group fitness instructor, and a yoga instructor. In her downtime, she enjoys participating in outdoor activities, such as swimming, playing soccer, biking, and hiking.

Mary believes, “the patient always comes first.”
